DUFFY EARL RILEY

July 10, 1955 ~ October 23, 2011
He was born on July 10, 1955, in Louisville, Kentucky, the son of the late Donald Earl and Frances LaVerne Shuffitt Riley.
He was a 1974 graduate of Jefferson City High School.
On November 5, 2002, in New York, he was united in marriage to Gale Kathryn Wood who survives at the home.
Mr. Riley was a proud member of the United States Army and retired after 23 years of service. He had been a member of the 101st Airborne Division and the 25th Infantry Division, served tours in Panama, Germany, Sinai, and the last 5 years of his career he taught cadets at West Point Military Academy in New York. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2693, VFW, American Legion Roscoe Enloe Post 5, American Legion Riders, MIA-POW committee through the American Legion, and the Forty and Eight. He loved to fish, collect knifes, and study his Indian heritage.
Other survivors include: four children, Joseph (Alyssa) Riley, Hopkinsville, KY; Patrick Riley, Jefferson City; Peter Riley, Dobbs Ferry, NY; Kayla Riley, Dobbs Ferry, NY; three grandchildren, Connor Kursave, Hannah Kursave, Aidan Riley; three siblings, Penny Braun, Norwalk, IA; Robin Riley, Jefferson City; Lisa Wilson, St. Petersburg, FL; and his long time army buddy and best friend, Daun Fleming, Colorado Springs, CO.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Mobley Riley; and two daughters, Kathryn Riley and Jennifer Kursave.
A memorial service with military honors will be 6 p.m. Thursday, 27, 2011, at Capital West Christian Church with Rev. Ken Harland officiating.
Visitation will be 5-6 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the wishes of the family.

I was so saddened to hear of Duffy’s death. We went to HS together and also church together way back when. I had always hoped to reconnect one day.

My condolences to the family of Duffy Riley. I knew Duffy for the few years he spent living in the Village of Dobbs Ferry, New York. Duffy was always a gentlemen, willing to lend a hand with whatever you needed. I’m sorry for your loss.
