Elizabeth "Betty" Redel, 82 of Westphalia, Mo., died Monday, March 03, 2014, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born on May 6, 1931, in Meta, Missouri, the daughter of the late Henry and Barbara (Haller) Koerber.
She was married in June of 1949 to Aloysious Besche who preceded her in death in September of 1965. She was united in marriage on February 17, 1967, in Rolla, Missouri, to Norbert Francis Redel who preceded her in death on June 21, 1997.
Betty worked as a school cook for Fatima for seventeen years.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia; American Legion Auxiliary; Knights of Columbus Auxiliary where she served as a clown; and the Westphalia Ladies Friendship Club.
She especially enjoyed sewing, quilting, and baking cakes for weddings and anniversaries.
Survivors include: nine children, Shirley Besche, New Bloomfield, Mo.; Joseph (Mary) Besche, St. Martins; Theresa Besche, Jefferson City; Debra Besche, Shelby, North Carolina; Jo Anne (Henry) Bauer, Wardsville; Dr. Barbara (James) Howard, Jefferson City; Carolyn Brandow, Westphalia; Jennifer Howard, Clarksville, Tenn.; Lori (Kurt) Reichert, St. Peters, Mo.; 18 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; one sister, Angela (Martin) Welschmeyer, Freeburg, Mo.; one brother, Robert Vermoilen, St. Louis; and one sister-in-law, Lawonda Koerber, Marionville, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both her husbands; one son, Lonnie Besche; two grandsons, Bryce Besche and Heath Scheulen; and one brother, Henry Koerber.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia with the Rev. Mark S. Smith officiating.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Westphalia.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, March 6th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home in Westphalia with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m.
