Erin Carl, 37, of Holts Summit passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

She was born December 8, 1984, in Washington, MO to Wayne and Sandy (Vorderbruegge) Carl of Berger, MO.  Erin and her brother, Matthew grew up on the family farm. She loved showing her cows at county fairs and won many awards.

While attending school in Hermann, Erin was extremely active in FFA and 4-H.  At an early age, Erin knew she would one day become a teacher.  After graduating from Hermann High School, Erin went on to achieve a Bachelor of Science Degree and Masters Degree in Agricultural Education from the University of Missouri, Columbia.

In 2009, she began her career with the Jefferson City School District as an AG Educator and FFA Advisor at the Nichols Career Center.  Her work ethic, organizational skills, reliability, and passion for teaching made for a perfect fit for the job she loved.  Erin volunteered many hours with Cole County 4-H and Camp Quality of Central Missouri where she was Co-Director since 2010.  She was also an active member of Bethany United Church of Christ where she had served on the church council.

If Erin wasn’t playing with her dogs, Winnie and Piper, you might find her clothes shopping, enjoying an ice cream cone or traveling (but not in airplanes).

She was a beautiful, thoughtful, kind soul who will be sadly missed.

Survivors include her parents, Wayne and Sandy Carl, brother, Matthew (Shannon McNulty) Carl of Berger, her close friend, Casey Bucher of Holts Summit, extended family and friends along with Winnie and Piper.  Erin was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Raymond and Lorene Vorderbruegge and paternal grandparents, Merlin and Helen Carl.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Trimble Funeral Homes, 3210 N. Ten Mile Dr., Jefferson City.  Visitation will resume on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Celebration of Life Service.  Reverend Bruce Jovaag will officiate.

Graveside services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the St. John United Church of Christ Cemetery in Berger.

Memorials may be directed Erin Carl Memorial Scholarship Fund, 2230 Diederich Rd., Berger, MO 63014.

  1. We were lucky enough to meet Erin she was and is a very sweet lady she fought a good fight will be missed

  2. I was a huge fan of Erin’s! I worked across the hall from her at Nichols and loved watching her from the beginning of her teaching grow each year and ignite a flame in many students and staff. Her energy and excitement was contagious–she picked the right field for sure. She was a wonderful person and a model of the kind, generous, giving that we should all be. I am very thankful to have known her and I have prayed since this ugly battle started and kept in touch with the very brave soul she was. My heart and prayers goes out to all her family and Casey!

  3. We loved Ms Carl so much. Graduate of 2015. Ms Carl was always a huge inspiration and supporter for me. She always pushed me to pursue my dreams. I will forever remember her as kind, loving, energetic person! She was an amazing teacher and person. So giving and always put her heart into everything FFA. Thinking of you always❤️

  4. They are many stories I could tell you about Erin from wrapping presents at Cabelo’s to going to light displays over Christmas to carving pumpkins at Halloween there was always an adventure awaiting to happen with her. I loved that we had the same passion for decorating at the holidays especially at Christmas, and the same excitement we would get over random things we would see. To the girl who allowed me stay on her couch, watch award ceremonies with and eat amazing dip you will be forever missed! My prayers are with Casey, The Bucher’s, The Carl’s and everyone who found a special connection to her.

  5. Erin, we were only high school classmates, but even then I knew you as a truly caring person. My thoughts and prayers go especially to you, your family, to Casey Bucher and the Bucher family. May you all find love, support and comfort.
