Guestbook

  1. I did not know Mrs. Pawley well but always respected and admired her, largely because she had such fine sons in TD and Larry. I have not lived in JC since I left for college in 1970 but know it was a better place because Mrs. Pawley lived there and was a respected member of the community. God bless her and her family. 2. Mrs. Pawley was an amazing teacher, not many teachers stand out in my mind that I had except her, she was so kind but strict when she needed to be I truly loved having her as my teacher. She will be missed.

  3. Dear T.D., Dr. Pawley and Larry,Our sincere sympathy is extended to you in the loss of your mother and wife (loved one). You are blessed to share her memory and spirit. May God bless you and keep you in His care. Be blessed!

  4. Mrs. Pawley was always a ray of sunshine on Sunday mornings and she will be missed. She touched our hearts and our souls ans was always a great lady. Our hearts go out to Dr. Pawley and the family for their loss.

  5. Please accept my condolences on the passing of Mrs. Pawley. I was a grade school student of hers in the late 1960s at Southwest. She obviously made an impression – that I would remember her forty years later. She was fair, kind, patient, and caring. May the angels lead her into paradise…

  6. This is such a sad loss and my prayers go out to the family. I had her at Southwest School and still remember her to this date and have thought about her often. She was one of those teachers that meant alot to me. She wasn’t just a teacher she was someone you could talk to anytime. God definitely has a wonderful angel with her!!

  7. Mrs. Pawley – how I loved her! She was my 5th grade teacher in 1967-68 and we had moved to Jeff from a little town by Springfield. I was so scared and Mrs. Pawley made me feel wanted and included. Besides my first grade teacher, she is my favorite. She made quite an impression on me. I’m sure she is in heaven with all the other angel teachers!

  8. To the Pawley FamilyJohn and Barbara Taylor express sympathy to the Thomas D. Pawley Family on the passing of Mrs. Ethel Pawley, who also was our dear friend. We met Mrs. Pawley in 1997, when Dr. Thomas D. Pawley, then Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, recommended John to serve as Head of the Department of Fine Arts, under his tutelage. From our perspective, Mrs. Pawley was an ultra-supportive Wife of Dr. Pawley, a devoted Mother of her two sons (Thomas Pawley IV, and Larry Pawley), a loyal Family Member, a dedicated schoolteacher, and a devoted member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority (of which Barbara is a member). Of greatest importance, Mrs. Pawley also was the teacher of our children, Jonathan and Allyson, who have shared mutual admiration about her over the years. When our children were notified about about Mrs. Pawley’s passing, they expressed their continuing respect for her, and mentioned the educational support and friendliness she provided during their years in the Jefferson City School System, their collegiate pursuits, and their married lives. The Taylor Family is saddened to learn of the passing of Mrs. Pawley. May God receive her in Heaven based on her devoutness, her good deeds and lifetime generosity. We celebrate her life, and may God continue to bless the Pawley Family, and support them in the years ahead. With affection and respect, John and Barbara Taylor910 South Michigan Avenue, Unit 1711Chicago, IL 60605

  9. I was saddened this morning to discover the passing of Ethel Louise Pawley on October 23, 2012. The grief of her passing will undoubtedly echo through the Oct 2013 tribute to Dr. Pawley by the Stagecrafters of the class of 1963 and friends. We

will feel your presence Ethel and hope you receive our love and recognition for the invaluable contribution you made to life through your social, scholastic and spiritual accomplishments, and in being wife extraordinaire of 71 years to Doc, and exceptional mother T.D. Pawley IV and Larry. My heart, my love to Doc and sons. I left LU summer of ’61 with excellent preparation in theatre from Dr. Pawley. I recall Mrs. Pawley’s sweetness, her genuine warm friendliness. Approval from Doc’s lovely wife was tantamount and well appreciated.
