Frederick Joseph Morfeld, 91, of Westphalia, died Thursday, October 17, 2013, at St. Joseph Bluffs surrounded by his family.
He was born on February 12, 1922, in Westphalia, the son of the late George and Josephine (Falter) Morfeld.
He was united in marriage on April 15, 1950, in Westphalia, to Leona T. Berhorst who survives at the home.
Frederick served in the United States Army during World War II.
Frederick worked for the Missouri Department of Transportation as a lead foreman over bridge painting and repair for 37 years retiring in 1987.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia, Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion. Frederick favorites hobbies included hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, farming, watching birds and squirrels, and spending time with his family and friends.
Other survivors include: three children, Paul (Shirley) Morfeld, Freeburg; Linda (Jim) Schatzer, Hartsburg; Roger (Melanie) Morfeld, Westphalia; one daughter-in-law, Annette Morfeld Bruemmer, Jefferson City; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Marie Morfeld, Linn.
He was preceded in death by a son, James Morfeld; a sister, Maria Morfeld; and two brothers, Stephen and Frank Morfeld.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, October 21, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia with the Rev. Mark S. Smith officiating.
Burial with military honors will be in St Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2:30-5 p.m. Sunday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home in Westphalia with a prayer service at 2 p.m.
