George Wilford Bird, 72, of Koeltztown, died Sunday, October 16, 2011, at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born December 1, 1938, in Bluebell, Utah, the son of the late Isaac Wilford and Edna Pearl Roper Bird.
George served with the United States Marine Corps.
He was united in marriage on April 27, 1988, in Linn, Mo., to Mary Lou Bax who survives at the home.
George was a roofer with Missouri Builders for 35 years.
Survivors include: four children, Victor (Margie) Brandt, Koeltztown; Dale (Elaine) Brandt, Koeltztown; Brian (Lynne) Brandt, Koeltztown; Diane (Norbert) Temmen, Meta; eight grandchildren; and five siblings, Grace Cook, Telitha Parry, Judith Brundage, Ida Stanfield, and Diantha Hadden.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Joyce Karcish, Iva Jenson, and Leona Burson.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at St. Boniface Catholic Church with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Msgr. Marion J. Makarewicz officiating.
Private graveside services will be held Thursday at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.
