Gloria Jean Abbott, 80, of Jefferson City, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Riverview Nursing Center.

She was born on March 26, 1941, in Jefferson City, the daughter of Ralph Henry and Floretta Susanna (Brauner) Bruemmer.

She was married on August 8, 1959, in Wardsville to Robert Lee Abbott, who preceded her in death on June 5, 2008.

Gloria worked at the State of Missouri Conservation Commission as a secretary in the Wildlife Division for thirteen years.

She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.

She loved raising flowers and together with her husband they owned and operated The Green House in Wardsville selling bedding plants. Gloria always had her bag packed and was ready for any adventure, especially when travelling on family vacations. Her best times were with her grandchildren whom she adored.

Survivors include three children, Denise (Robert) Bauer, Rich Fountain; Douglas (Jane) Abbott, Wardsville; Keith (Wanda) Abbott, Folk; ten grandchildren, Travis (Brandy Friend) Bauer, Ashley (Matthew) Starke, Courtney (Billy Heskett) Bauer, Ryan (Makenzie) Abbott, Madison Abbott, Tanner (Grace) Abbott, Brookyln (Josh) Swyers, Logan Abbott, Isaac Abbott, and Jeana Abbott; five great-grandchildren, Coy Starke, Parker Bauer, Isabelle Starke, Amelia Heskett, and Tiauna Friend; three sisters, Sharon (Mitch) Massman, Wardsville; Doris (Albert) Toebben, Wardsville; and Beverly (John) McCasland, Jefferson City; and a brother, Roger “Rocky” (Grace) Bruemmer, Wardsville.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert.

Visitation will be 9-11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with the Msgr. David D. Cox officiating.

Entombment will be in St. Stanislaus Catholic Mausoleum.

Memorials are suggested to St. Stanislaus Catholic Church or to a Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
