She was a fun mom who served as a Brownie leader, softball coach and classroom helper. She worked in customer service for Lammert Furniture Company and Famous-Barr Department Store throughout the 1950's to 1970's.
She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph, Jefferson City and a fifty year member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish, in Shrewsbury, MO before she moved to Jefferson City to be closer to her daughter.
She is survived by two daughters: Helen Patricia Clendenin (Edward), Georgetown, Texas and Mary Elizabeth Kliethermes (James), Jefferson City, Missouri. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Timothy Watkins, Daniel Watkins (Maria), Matthew Watkins and Carrie Watkins O'Neill (John), all of St. Louis, MO and Amy Lovelace (Eric), Leawood, KS; Ellen Dickman (Scott), St. Louis, MO Karen James (Dustin), Joplin, MO; and John Kliethermes (Ingrid), Keswick, VA; and fifteen great-grandchildren: Allison Watkins; Dominic, Katia and Jonah Watkins; Molly, Meghan and Patrick O'Neill; Emma and Ian Lovelace; Sebastian and William Dickman; Wilder and Pearson James; and Louis and Daniel Kliethermes.
Helen was a kind and generous woman who enjoyed parties of all kinds. Her 100th birthday celebration was attended by her family who enjoyed photographs and stories from ten decades of a full and happy life. On the day before she died, she had a piece of cake for dessert.
Helen donated her body to Saint Louis University School of Medicine. There will be no visitation.
