James Franklin "Jim" Clarkston, 75, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, February 9, 2015, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital. He was born January 3, 1940, in Centralia, MO, the son of the late John Wesley and Jennie (Holzer) Clarkston. He was united in marriage on September 26, 1959, at Our Lady of Snows Catholic Church in Mary's Home to Rita E. Lueckenhoff who survives at the home. Mr. Clarkston worked for DeLong's, Inc. from 1957 until his retirement in 2001 as an inventory control manager. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church where he served as an usher, money counter, and assisted with funeral luncheons; member of the St. Peter Men's Sodality; member of the Mary's Home Knights of Columbus where he served as past Grand Knight; and a member of the Brazito/Honey Creek Lion's Club where he served as a past President. Mr. Clarkston was a co-founder of the South Missouri River League Youth Baseball, was a manager of Babe Ruth Baseball teams, and coached basketball for his sons. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, playing Mexican Train Dominos, and traveling to Branson. He especially loved to watch his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren sporting events. In addition to his wife of 55 years, Rita, he is survived by six children, Roger (Bonnie) Clarkston, Eldon; Gary Clarkston, Jefferson City; Rick (Christy) Clarkston, St. Charles; Karen (Jeff) Brondel, St. Martins; Brenda (Les) Niemeyer, Oregon, WI; Rhonda (Harold) Forck, Taos; twelve grandchildren, Barbara Hobbs (fianc Dustin Sutherland), Seana Hobbs (fianc Mikey Scott), Bradley Clarkston, Jennifer Clarkston (fianc Christopher Bell), Jorie Clarkston, Megan (Chad) Sommerer, Nathaniel Niemeyer, Zachary Niemeyer, Michaela Niemeyer, Alexandria Niemeyer, Adam Forck, Ashley Forck; eight great-grandchildren; eight siblings, Lawrence Clarkston; Charlie Clarkston; William "Bill" (Helen) Clarkston, all of Jefferson City; Wilburn Clarkston, Westphalia; Mary Jane (Rowland) Doerhoff; Ruthie Clarkston; Darrell "Cotton" (Joyce) Clarkston; Charyl Clarkston, all of Jefferson City; and six brother and sister in-laws, Theresa Rush, Adele Lueckenhoff, Dorothy (Leander) Berendzen, and August "Gus" (Carol) Lueckenhoff. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Evelyn (Alfred) Thoenen and Louise Weed; and five in-laws, Helen Marie Clarkston, Carl Rush, Lawrence Lueckenhoff, and Lucille (Harold) Bungart. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at St. Peter Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2015, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a rosary recited at 3 p.m. and a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to St. Peter Catholic Church Capital Campaign, 216 Broadway St. Jefferson City, MO 65101; Vogelweid Learning Center, 314 W. High St. Jefferson City, MO 65101; or to Special Olympics of Missouri, 1001 Diamond Ridge, Suite 800, Jefferson City, MO 65109.
