Janet Elaine Messer, 82, of Holts Summit, passed away Friday, September 13, 2019, at Valley Park in Holts Summit.

She was born August 17, 1937, in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of the late Cecil Edward and Catherine Anna (Cronk) Bliss.

She was united in marriage on January 19, 1958, in Burlington, Iowa, to Raymond Gilbert Messer who preceded her in death on June 29, 1995.

Janet worked for the Missouri Secretary of State office as a microfilm machine operator. She later worked for B Clean Coin Laundry & Dry Cleaners in Jefferson City. She enjoyed sewing and embroidering, making porcelain dolls, ceramics, reading, and doing puzzles.

Survivors include three children, Julie (Robert) Scheppers, Wardsville; Roxanne (Nathan) Jett, New Bloomfield; Renee (Nathan) Luebbering, St. Thomas; five grandchildren, Travis (Sara) Jett, Kayla (Zach) Rehagen, Christopher (Morgan) Scheppers, David (Kaitlyn) Scheppers, Cassidy-Rae Luebbering; six great-grandchildren, Logan Jett, Connor Jett, Audrinna Rehagen, Sloan Scheppers, Henley Scheppers, Harper Scheppers, and one more due in the next couple of weeks.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Barbara Brown and Carol Sickels; and one brother, Donald Bliss.

Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Monday, September 16, 2019, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 6 p.m. Monday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with the Rev. I.C. Medina officiating.

Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Special Learning Center or to the Alzheimer's Association.

Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

  1. So sorry for your loss. We always had a lot of on our trips ceramic and doll trips. She had such an artistic talent of painting. I’M so sorry I didn’t get to visit her more.
