Janet Marie Schaefer, 78, of Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital.

She was born on July 27, 1946, in Jefferson City to Arthur Henry and Zita Marie (Brunnert) Huber.

Janet was a 1964 graduate of Fatima High School.

She was married on her birthday, July 27, 1968, in Westphalia to Norbert Joseph Schaefer who preceded her in death on February 21, 2023.

She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

Janet was a homemaker and enjoyed raising her family. In earlier years, she enjoyed camping, going to casinos and traveling, especially on cruises.

Survivors include four children, Darla Schaefer; Marsha Schaefer, both of Jefferson City; Pamela (Scott) Cruz, Fort Worth, Texas; and Brian (Cindy) Schaefer, Jefferson City; grandson, Anthony Schaefer; and a brother-in-law, James Watson, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norbert; two brothers, Harold (Theresa) Huber; and Thomas Huber; and a sister, Judith Watson.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2025, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. with Rev. Kelechi Uzuegbu officiating.

Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
