Joan Christine Cassmeyer, 83, of Taos, passed away Friday, October 23, 2015, at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born March 26, 1932, in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late Theodore and Anna Agnes (Westerman) Mayens.
She was united in marriage on September 6, 1954, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church to Robert John Cassmeyer who preceded her in death on March 23, 1989.
Joan and her husband Bob owned and operated Mayens Farm Dairy, for over 25 years. Joan also had worked for Scholastic Inc.
She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Taos, St. Ann's Sodality, St. Mary's Auxiliary, and Helias Mother's Club.
Joan enjoyed cooking, reading, the St. Louis Cardinals, and being around all of her family.
Survivors include: five children, Susan (Gary) Morgan, Jefferson City; Sam Cassmeyer, Fenton; Sandra "De-De" (Jim) Westerman, Derby, KS; John (Jennifer) Cassmeyer, Jefferson City; Julie Grimshaw, Taos; 15 grandchildren, Mark (Jessica) Morgan, Gary (Marie) Morgan, Jr., Lori (Bill) Benton, Katie (Alex) Hopkins, Sam Cassmeyer, Jessie (Mason) Tyler, Ben (Michelle) Westerman, Luke Westerman, Beth Westerman, Joe Cassmeyer, Daniel Cassmeyer, Cody Cassmeyer, Claire Cassmeyer, Jennifer Grimshaw, Anna Grimshaw; and one great-granddaughter, Brooke Westerman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Richard Mayens.
Visitation will be 4:30-7 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2015, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with a prayer service at 4 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with the Rev. Wayne M. Boyer officiating.
Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery.

For the Cassmeyer/Mayens family I am so sorry for your loss. Joanie was a sweet lady and an amazing cook. I always enjoyed being at the farm whether delivering sawdust or bucking bales. Some of those bales weighed more than I did. They always treated everyone like family. Sympathies. Joe Boehm
