John William Struemph, 76, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, December 18, 2017, at Sunset Health Care Center in Union, Missouri surrounded by all his loving family. He was born January 14, 1941, in St. Elizabeth, Missouri, the son of the late William and Martha (Koehne) Struemph.
He was united in marriage on October 10, 1964, in St. Anthony, Missouri to Mary Margaret Ewers who survives.
John worked for 40 years as a mechanic for Riley Automotive Group and retired as an Assistant Service Manager. After retirement, he worked for the Jefferson City Parks and Recreation helping to cut grass and work on equipment.
He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church where he served as an usher, member of the Knights of Columbus, and volunteered for 30 years with the Cole County Volunteer Fire Department where he retired as a Lieutenant and Property Officer.
John helped to develop the family farm known as The Hard 8 Ranch. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, dancing, playing cards, watching NASCAR, babysitting his grandchildren, bar-b-quing for his family, and always offering to help others.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Struemph, Jefferson City; four children, Eric (Darla) Struemph, Jefferson City; Susan (Danny) Doerhoff, Jefferson City; Leslie Tanner, Jefferson City; Nicole (Bart) Scott, Kirkwood, MO; eight grandchildren, Alyssa Struemph, Alexa Struemph, Drew Doerhoff, Chloe Doerhoff, Jacob Tanner, Brooke Tanner, Owen Scott, Sloan Scott; one brother, Francis (Dolores) Struemph, St. Elizabeth; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Mary Ann Clevenger, Ludmilla Kliethermes, Odelia Struemph, Margie Johnson, Virginia Beach; and two brothers-in-law, Ralph Clevenger and Herbert Kliethermes.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2017, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, December 23, 2017, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Simeon A. Etonu officiating.
Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Gibbs Center for Independence U.P.C.
