Joseph M. Ihler, Jr., 88, of Jefferson City, passed away Friday, February 19, 2016, at Heisinger Bluffs.
He was born July 8, 1927, in Lohman, Missouri, the son of the late Joseph Mathias, Sr. and Esther Clara Kaiser Ihler.
He served in Korea with the United States Army, 11th Airborne Division.
He was united in marriage on April 17, 1955 in Jefferson City to Francis Ann Kaiser who preceded him in death on March 23, 1995. On November 22, 1997 he married Dorothy Christine Weber in St. Martins who preceded him in death on September 16, 2013.
He worked for Sears Company as a service technician and once he retired he was a rural school bus driver.
He was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church; and enjoyed restoring vehicles, including a 1924 Harley Davidson and a 1926 Model-T. He had an extensive clock collection and loved playing cards, dominos, bingo and puzzles with family and friends.
Survivors include five children, Ronald (Jennifer) Ihler, Kingdom City; Julie (Burkey) Chambers, Taos; Kathy (Mel) McMahan, Kansas City, MO; Thomas Ihler, St. Martins; and Jeanine Schollmeyer, Clarksburg; nine grandchildren, Ryan (Christy) Brune, Neil Brune, Ashley (Clayton) Stuecken, Arielle Chambers, Justin Schollmeyer, Joshua Schollmeyer, Jessica Schollmeyer, Nicole Ihler, and Max Ihler; six great-grandchildren, Dylan Brune, Addison Brune, Hannah Schollmeyer, Serenity Schollemyer, Nevaeh Henry, and Kamryn Stuecken; one sister, Irma Jansen, Jefferson City; three step-children, Richard "Ricky" Neuner, Kingston, NY; Sharon (Harold) Lock, Linn; and Ronnie Neuner, Freeburg; seven step-granchildren, Machaela Raney, Brittany Raney, Maranda Asberry, Derek Voss, Wes Voss, Kara Benson, and Kim Lynn; and eight step-great-grandchildren, Malakai Raney, Olivia Raney, Alexa Lock, Rordan Asberry, Kenzie Asberry, Kathy Lynn, Jordan Lynn, and Megan Lynn.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amber Renee Strope.
Visitation will be 4:30-7 p.m. Tuesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 Noon Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at St. Martin Catholic Church with the Rev. Edwin Schmidt officiating.
Burial will be in Resurrection Mausoleum.
