Julie Ann Hentges, 50, of Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital.
She was born February 27, 1970, in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late Louis William and Henrietta Teresa (Stratman) Distler.
She was united in marriage on September 2, 2000, at St. Peter Catholic Church to Randall Joseph “Randy” Hentges, who resides at the home. Julie was a wife, mother, and homemaker, who loved to cook and to share her food with family and friends.
A 1988 graduate of McClintock High School in Tempe, Arizona, Julie received a degree in Cosmetology from House of Michael Beauty School in Mesa, Arizona. Fresh out of school Julie worked for her aunt, Mary Klein, at Cutter’s Cottage in Phoenix, before working closer to home at La Breeze Hair Salon in Mesa, Arizona, and had a very special bond with her coworkers and clients. After moving ‘back home’ to Missouri she was employed by ABB, working in transformer manufacturing and as a safety rep, and worked there for over 20 years.
Julie was very creative and fun-loving. In high school she was a member of the choral group and enjoyed participating in stage productions. She loved knitting hats and scarves and gave away many as Christmas gifts. A generous spirit, she found joy in helping others and was “everybody’s sister”. She loved spending time with her family on the family farm.
She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Randy; her daughter, Britney Rose Hentges, Jefferson City; siblings, Steve (Nancy) Distler, Chandler, Arizona; Judy (Richard) Nowack, Holts Summit; and Rick (Linda) Distler, Gilbert, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Mary Ann Distler.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with the prayer service at 3:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Jeremy A. Secrist officiating. The service will be live streamed for those who wish to watch from home. The link can be found on Julie’s obituary page under Tribute Wall at www.dulletrimble.com.
The general public is welcome to attend services while following social distancing guidelines. Facial coverings are required while in attendance.
Entombment will be in Resurrection Catholic Mausoleum.
Memorials are suggested to Randy Hentges for their daughter’s educational needs, or to Masses.

Julie was a great neighbor and caring friend. She always had a smile, a story, a treats for us. No matter what was going on she was upbeat and wanted to know how we were doing. I will miss her large personality and larger smile.
So very sorry to hear of Julie’s passing, My heart goes out to Randy and Brittney. Loved reading her comments on Facebook and her sense of humor. Glad she got to enjoy living at the farm for a short while Deepest sympathy Randy.
Julie was always a kind and giving soul. She didn’t know a stranger and had a larger than life personality. I loved her and never really told her. My life is missing something without her now. You never know what you have till it is gone.
Julie was like a big sis to me and secon mom to my daughter. She was such a great listener and always helped out when she was able. More than once a quick conversation would turn into an hour on the phone. She loved with her whole being. Love you back lady. We miss you!

From the moment I met Julie in 1990, my life was better because of her. We have been thru so much together and I’m grateful to call her my little sister, my best friend for life. A part of me is missing but my love for you will always be with me until the end. I love you Julie!!!!

Julie always had a smile on her face, always so friendly. She was a good friend, so easy to talk to. Last year, I was feeling a little depressed about my birthday. Guess who came to OBIE’S to surprise me with a gluten free cake. Julie, Randy and Britney. I can’t believe they remembered, but it truly meant a lot to me. It made my day. She will be truly missed by so many. Julie is a Golden Angel now. Prayers to Randy and Britney.

There are no words that can help heal the pain for Randy and Britney, so sorry for your loss. But I, like so many others that are writing here, have so many great memories with her. She lived for others, always wanting to get a smile or laugh from everyone around her. I was always very proud of my little sis. When she entered the room everyone knew it. You were taken too soon Julie. It seems like it’s always the good ones that go too soon. Who is going to light up my phone now? Missing you already.
We were in shock to hear that our beautiful cousin Julie was taken from us way too soon! When I told dad (her Uncle Jerry Klein) he started reminiscing about when Julie worked with mom and June at Cutters Cottage. There were so many good stories. Dad, Deeann and I wish we could just gather up all of Julie’s family and siblings and give them a great big hug and never let go. We’ll miss you Julie, but we’ll never forget your beautiful smile, your charming wit, and your love for life! Please give Aunt Pet, my mom, and all our other aunts and uncles a big hug for us!

We are still in shock from learning the news of the tragic accident that took the life of our wonderful cousin at such a young age. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. We offer our condolences at this time of such deep sorry, but another angel is now in heaven to watch over our family.
