Kathryn Ellen Bondurant

Kathryn Ellen “Kay” Bondurant, 73 of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at her residence.

She was born on August 27, 1952, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City, to Eugene Elmer and Mary Lou (Backes) Vogel.

Kay graduated from the Most Pure Heart of Mary Grade School in Chamois and from Jefferson City High School in 1970.

She was married to Jerry Joseph Bondurant on December 12, 1970, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Jefferson City. He resides at the residence.

Kay worked at Samco Business Supply from 1970-1978 and was the baker in the cafeteria at St. Joseph Grade School. For many years, she worked in the office at Trimble Funeral Homes. All through her married life she ironed for many families and took immense pride in delivering this bygone service.

She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph, and she volunteered at church bazaars, St. Mary’s Auxiliary, and Relay for Life.

Kay was a kind and gentle woman. Her passion was raising her children and being with her grandchildren. She looked forward to holidays and having her family together to celebrate. She taught all of them how to play board games, dominos, and cards. It was common for the family to spend the weekends and birthday celebrations enjoying lunches, dinners, and playing cards. Kay treasured time spent playing with her bunco group.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, flower gardening, being outdoors, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals baseball games.  She and Jerry loved to try their luck at the Isle of Capri Casino in Boonville.  Many afternoons and evenings they sat on the front porch swing and watched the cars go by and waved to all that passed by. Kay loved the color yellow and had planted many forsythia bushes that bloomed in a beautiful display of color every spring. In earlier years, Kay played slow pitch softball and volleyball.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry; two sons, Douglas (Rebecca) Bondurant, Jefferson City; and Danny Bondurant (Tiffany Roll), California; five grandchildren, Mackenzie (Sam) Woodson, Ethan Bondurant, Jacob Rademan, Abby Rademan, and James Rademan; three sisters, Dolores Scheuler, Jefferson City; Genie Bisges, Wardsville; and Judy (Joe) Birk, Lohman; a brother, Mike (Edna) Vogel, Jefferson City; and a brother-in-law, Chuck Duemmel, Holts Summit.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Andrea Bondurant; grandson, Jordan Bondurant; sisters, Martha Duemmel, and Vivian (Larry) Boss; brothers-in-law, Ronnie Scheuler, Gilbert Bisges, and Lester “Shorty” Trachsel.

Visitation will be 9-11:00 a.m., Monday, January 26, 2026, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Gregory Oligschlaeger officiating.

Private burial will be in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the Cathedral of St. Joseph or to St. Joseph Cathedral School.
