Louis Bernard Kolb, 82, of Jefferson City, departed this life on Monday, February 9, 2015, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
He was born March 9, 1932, in Wardsville, Mo, the son of the late Joseph J. and Lucy K. (Thessen) Kolb.
Louis attended St. Stanislaus Grade School and St Peter High School.
He proudly served his country during the Korean War as a Cannoneer in the Artillery Unit and received his honorable discharge as a Staff Sergeant in 1954.
On October 2, 1954, he married his high school sweetheart Ruth Ann Luetkemeyer in Jefferson City who survives at the home.
Louis was employed by several contractors before he became a sole proprietor in home construction and remodeling. He was a very meticulous carpenter who built many fine homes in the Jefferson City area including one for most of his ten children.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, American Legion Post 5, VFW Post 1003, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 2693.
He enjoyed his backyard lake, riding the four-wheeler with his grandchildren, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, Mizzou football, watching purple martins, and attending his grandchildren's sporting events.
Survivors include his wife Ruth of over 60 years; six sons, Tim Kolb, Mitch (Cindy) Kolb, Kevin (Debbie) Kolb, Jerry (Tammy) Kolb, Curt (Alicia) Kolb, Daniel (Nikki) Kolb; four daughters, Carla Kolb, Sharon (Tom) Wilbers, Natalie (Brad) Roark, Nicole (Doug) Hood, all of Jefferson City; three brothers, Joe (Mary Jane) Kolb, Norbert (Shirley) Kolb, Stanley (Mary) Kolb; one sister, Agnes Volmert; 25 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents; his twin sister, Lucille (Leo) Rackers; an infant brother, Albert Kolb; and a brother-in-law, Dick Volmert.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2015, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. David D. Cox officiating.
Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Debt Reduction Fund, 1206 East McCarty Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101. Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
