Margaret Edith Veltrop, 91, of Jefferson City, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Margaret was born on September 1, 1934, in Bonnots Mill, the daughter of Alfred John and Belva Alice (Starr) LeCure.
She was married in October 1952 to Glen W. Moses, and he preceded her in death on June 23, 1963. She married Henry Louis Veltrop on July 15, 1964, in Socorro, New Mexico. He resides at the home.
As a certified nurse assistant, Margaret worked at St. Joseph Home. She was also an in-home aide for George Charlton. In earlier years, Margaret worked at Kress Department Store in downtown Jefferson City.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and the American Legion Auxiliary Post #5. She loved to cook, especially for her large family, and to collect glassware and dolls. She enjoyed embroidery, quilting, reading, writing poetry, shopping, and going to garage sales.
Margaret is survived by her husband Henry of sixty-one years; eight children, Rebecca Marie Moses, Jefferson City; Glen Wayne (Stephanie) Moses, Whitewright, Texas; Kenneth Edward (Sherry) Moses, Jefferson City; Rodney George (Diane) Moses, Jefferson City; Dennis Alfred (Pat Walther) Moses, Taos; Daniel Joseph (Robin) Moses, Taos; Terry Louis (Lisa) Veltrop, Holts Summit; and Susan Ann (Darryl) Connell, Jefferson City; twenty grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Glen W. Moses; a son, Randall Louis Moses; two great-granddaughters, Elizabeth Kay Moses, and Kyleigh Ann Phillips; and seven siblings, Cleora Clark, Geneva Lee Bohannon, Melva Pearl McMillin, Elizabeth Opal Krieg, Catherine Starr, John Franklin LeCure, and Thomas Phillip LeCure.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m., Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Matthew J. Flatley officiating.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Westphalia.
Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
