Marian Ilene Brandel, 78, of Hartsburg, died Friday, January 9, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born October 1, 1936, in Mankato, Minnesota, the daughter of the late Dorman T. and Meryle G. (Larson) McQuitty. Marian was a 1954 graduate of Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, Kansas. She was united in marriage on January 2, 1960, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Argyle to William J. Brandel who survives. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. In addition to her husband of 55 years, Marian is survived by six children, Barbara Brandel, Hartsburg; Debra (Clifford) Cornell, Hartsburg; Donna (Steve) Simkins, Sturgeon; Patricia (Richard) Hayden, Jefferson City; Paula (Terry) Armentrout, Boscobel, Wisc; Joseph (Jonna) Brandel, Overland Park, KS; 10 grandchildren, Sarah Hayden, Andrew Hayden, Samuel Hayden, Daniel Hayden, Madeline Cornell, Clayton Simkins, Carter Simkins, Jordan Brandel, Jessica Brandel, John Brandel; and three brothers, Doug (Margie) McQuitty, McLouth KS; Roger (Barbara) McQuitty, Nora Springs, Iowa; and David (June) McQuitty, Honaunau, Hawaii. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Brian Michael Brandel; and a sister, Louise Roberts. Visitation will be 8:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Gregory C. Meystrik and the Rev. Kevin W. Gormley concelebrating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the St. Peter Church Building Fund, 216 Broadway Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101; or to the Samaritan Center, 1310 East McCarty Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101.   2. We are so sorry for your loss. We all have a great debt to Marian for her wonderful loving attitude. She is a huge reason our daughters are the wonderful people they are today. She was a guiding light in their lives when they were children. Both went into her care at only a few weeks old. Hugs to Bill and their family. We will all make ss her.
