Mark Bruenger

Mark Bruenger, 72, of Jefferson City passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at University Hospital, Columbia.

He was born February 7, 1953 in St. Louis to the late Edwin and Mary Ellen (Grieser) Bruenger.  After graduating from high school, Mark attended the Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla.   He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.  Mark moved to Jefferson City working for the State of Missouri in the Office of Administration, Division of Design and Construction.  He also served as the Safety Officer and was an Elevator Inspector.  He retired after twenty seven years of service.

On July 24, 1993, Mark married Therese Lehman at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martins.  They were blessed with two sons, Mark Jr. and Ethan.  If you knew Mark, you knew he was proud of his Irish heritage, enjoyed celebrating St. Patrick’s Day and sometimes could have a slight streak of stubbornness.  He loved talking politics and often made his feelings known through his many opinion letters written to the News Tribune.  Mark was never one to sit still through his memberships in the Civil Air Patrol, United Sportsmen’s Club and served as former member of the Mid-MO Amateur Radio Club where he held the Amateur Extra Class call sign; N0VAU.  If he wasn’t tinkering in the garage, you might find Mark playing Solitaire on the computer or walking in his yard enjoying nature.

Survivors include his wife, Therese; two sons, Mark Jr. and Ethan all of Jefferson City and brother, John (Jan) Bruenger of St. Louis.

Private family services were held.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation.
