Mary Alice Brondel, 92, of St. Martins, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018, surrounded by her family at St. Joseph Bluffs.

She was born November 4, 1925, in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late Henry Charles and Josephine Margaret (Distler) Hentges.

She was united in marriage on June 20, 1950, at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martins to Victor Leo Brondel who preceded her in death on March 4, 2008.

Mary worked for a short period at Tweedie Shoe Company. She was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church and the Ladies Sodality.

Mary dedicated her life to being a wife and mother. She loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends and playing cards with her family and friends.

Survivors include seven children, Larry (Bette) Brondel, Jefferson City; Jim (Mary Lynn) Brondel, St. Martins; Fred (Debbie) Brondel, St. Martins; Wayne (LaVerne) Brondel, Jefferson City; Dale (Maria) Brondel, Fulton; Todd (Rita) Brondel, Jefferson City; Joyce (Larry) Hahn, St. Martins; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and four brothers, Clarence Hentges, Sylvester Pat Hentges, Louie Hentges and Cletus Hentges.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 Noon, Monday, August 20, 2018, at St. Martin Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 Noon, Monday, August 20, 2018, at St. Martin Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Porterfield officiating.

Burial will be in St. Martin Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Martin Catholic Church, 7148 St. Martins Blvd., Jefferson City, Missouri 65109 or to Hospice Compassus, 600 Monroe St. #100, Jefferson City, Missouri 65101.

  2. The Renick family is with heavy heart to hear the loss of your mother, Mary. She is now at peace and has earned her wings from raising 7 wonderful children, and seeing her grand children and great grand children. She is flying with Victor and they both have their wings wrapped around each of you for comfort. Our prayers are with you at this time of loss. God bless each one of you and the entire family.

  3. We are so sorry to learn of Aunt Mary’s passing. We will unable to attend her service due to my neck surgery limiting any travel from Houston. May the Lord Jesus give you peace and strength during your grieving period.
