Mary Ann A. Holzer

Mary Ann A. Holzer, 94, of St. Martins, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born January 8, 1931, in Mary’s Home, Missouri to August and Teresa (Evers) Kempker.
She was united in marriage on June 1, 1957, at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Mary’s Home to Andrew C. Holzer who preceded her in death on February 19, 1994.
Mary Ann was a loving wife to Andrew and mother to her seven children. She worked for a short time at Tweedie Shoe Factory, Wal-Mart in the Shoe Department, House of Bargains in the fabric department, and sold Avon Products. Mary Ann also babysat for children whose parents worked outside the home.
She was a devout member of St. Martin Catholic Church and the St. Martins Quilting Club. She also was a member of the 50 Plus Club, St. Mary’s Auxiliary, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Mary Ann was skilled in sewing and quilting, enjoyed her time with various card-playing clubs, and was a proud member of the Red Hatters Group and the Cultured Pearls Group. Her cooking skills were particularly in demand at various church events including weddings. She enjoyed her vegetable garden and canned lots of vegetables, fruits, and jellies for many years. Mary also devoted time to Meals on Wheels, drove numerous people to their doctor appointments, and volunteered at Villa Marie. Mary Ann was always active and could never say “no”.
Survivors include her seven children, Teresa (Rick) Brondel, Jefferson City; Dale (Dee Dee) Holzer, Camdenton; Curtis Holzer (Kim Cagle), Centertown; Valerie Gladback, Springdale, AR; David (Debbie) Holzer, Jefferson City; Marian (Bob) Brennan, Tebbetts; Melissa (Kevin) Brautigam, Russellville; 18 grandchildren, Tory (Hilary) Brondel, Myrilla (Luke) Markway, Derrick (Margaret) Holzer, Ashleigh (Sam) Willis, Deven (Katie) Holzer, Libby Holzer, Dawn (Mike) Hiller, Kelli Holzer, Matthew Gladback, Trevor (Jessica) Gladback, Joshua (Sera) Holzer, Isaac (Cassy) Holzer, Samuel Holzer, Sean (Amanda) Brennan, Michael (Brittney) Brennan, Kelsey Brennan, Kyle Brautigam, Kourtney Brautigam; 19 great grandchildren; and three siblings, Bernetta Adrian, Dorothy Berendzen, and Norbert Kempker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers and their wives, Andrew (Florentine) Kempker and August (Mary) Kempker; and four in-laws, Bob Adrian, Clarence Berendzen, Bonnie Kempker, and Shirley Kempker.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2025, at Trimble Funeral Homes – Jefferson City with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 noon Tuesday, at St. Martin Catholic Church with the Rev. Nicholas Reid officiating.
Burial will be in St. Martin Catholic Cemetery.

Mary Ann brought joy with her ever present sweet smile. I was blessed to know her and play cards with her over the years. And she graciously quilted two baby quilts for me. She was a beautiful lady❤️
