Mary K. Goedde, 90, of Jefferson City, died Sunday, July 29, 2012, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born on May 20, 1922, in Freeburg, Mo, the daughter of the late Henry and Therese (Redel) Bauer.
She was a 1940 graduate of Freeburg High School.
Mary was united in marriage on October 14, 1946, in Freeburg, Mo, to Paul Joseph Goedde who preceded her in death on December 7, 1998.
Mary worked as a bookkeeper for MFA in Freeburg from 1940-1978, and for the Accounting Department for Missouri State Employees Retirement System from 1978-1987.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she served on the parish council. She also was a member of Immaculata Club, Legion of Mary, St. Anns Sodality, Journey in Faith Program, and Right-to-Life. She volunteered for the Algoa and Jefferson City Correctional facilities, Children of Incarcerated Parents (ChIPs) and also received the Volunteer of the Year award from the Department of Corrections.
During Christmas, Mary, Paul, and their family, would sell Christmas trees from their tree farm. Mary enjoyed vegetable gardening, roses, and playing Canasta and bingo.
Her greatest love was her family including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include: five children, Rosemarie (Don) Hunt, Lyon, Mo; Tom (Mary) Goedde, Town and Country, Mo; Jane (Tim) Bennett, Springfield, Mo; Mark (Ann) Goedde, Vienna, Va; John (Susan) Goedde, Jefferson City; nine grandchildren, Stephanie (Andy) Hunt-Brinkmann, Daniel (Mindy) Hunt, Thomas Goedde, Jr., Paul J. Goedde, II, Adam (Stephanie) Bennett, Julia Bennett, William Goedde, Elizabeth Goedde, Mallory Goedde; four great-grandchildren, Madelyn Brinkmann, Morgan Brinkmann, Riley Hunt, Ava Hunt; two brothers, Rev. Syl Bauer, Westphalia; Tony Bauer, Freeburg; a large extended family and numerous friends.
She was also preceded in death by nine other siblings, August Bauer; Sophia Wilbers; Sr. Teresella Bauer, SSND; Leona Locker; Bro. Leonard Bauer, SVD; Sr. Germanus Bauer, SSND; Elizabeth Betty Goedde; Sr. Virgine Bauer, SSPS; and an infant sister, Rose Mathilda Bauer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, August 2, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Jefferson City, with the Rev. Syl, Bauer, the Rev. I.C. Medina, and the Rev. Msgr. Gregory L. Higley, concelebrating.
Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum, Jefferson City.
A rosary will be recited starting at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1st at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Jefferson City, with visitation to follow till 8 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to Divine Word Missions of Epworth, Iowa or to the Jefferson City Samaritan Center.

  6. What a wonderful lady Mary was! We are so grateful for the many years of devotion she gave to the pro-life cause. Carl regrets that he cannot attend visitation because he has to be out of town on pro-life business. I am honored to be asked to sing for her funeral Mass. God’s blessing to all of you!

She was one of the few people that sent us a “Thinking of You” card just after Diane’s accident. What a nice gesture! I know that each of you will miss her in your own way and have fond memories. Only understandable from the love that your family had intertwined thouughout the years.Being a grandfather, I know how much your Mom charished her grandkids and greatgrandkids. I just hope she was given many chances to spoil them rotten.
