Her cookbook, Recipes for Life, Faith, Family, Food and Fun, chronicles her days on the farm raising children, farming, volunteering, and caring for those around her. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in St. Thomas, MO; and later a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Wardsville, MO. Survivors include ten children: Sr. Rose Mary Boessen, Twin Falls, Idaho; Robert (Donna) Boessen, Holts Summit, MO; Henrietta (John) Gentges, Jefferson City; Allan (Kathy) Boessen, Troy, MO; Allene (Leroy "Red") Sanders, Jefferson City; Joseph (Ann) Boessen, Fairfax, VA; Eugene (Cheryl) Boessen, Wardsville, MO; Stanley (Carol "Cake") Boessen, Jefferson City; Mary Lynn (David) Marr, Naples, FL; and Genarose Hohertz, Eden Prairie, MN; thirty grandchildren; forty-five great-grandchildren; and one-great-great-grandson.
