Mildred June Jansen, 76, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 27, 1945, in Jackson, Missouri, the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Mildred Irene (Stokely) Smith.

June was a graduate of Jackson High School and from Southeast Missouri State University.

She was united in marriage on April 25, 1970, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Raymond Joseph Jansen who survives at the home.

June began her career as a special education teacher for the Cape Girardeau School District. After the birth of their daughters, June stayed home to raise Dawn, Misty, and Crystal. She later returned to work as a special education teacher for the Jefferson City School District.

June’s greatest joy came from being a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. June enjoyed sewing, painting ceramics, reading, watching soap operas and Hallmark movies, cooking and collecting recipes (like her mom), and going to listen to live music and dancing with her husband. She was a lover of animals, especially her dear cat, Angel Baby. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph and the Missouri State Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include her husband, Ray Jansen, Jefferson City; three daughters, Dawn (Scott) Patterson, Jefferson City; Misty (Derick) Miles, Jefferson City; Crystal (David, II) Burgan, Jefferson City; and eight grandchildren, Brandon (Savannah) Christian, Grace Christian, Jennifer Patterson, Ericka Miles, Brock Miles, Layla Burgan, Stella Ray Burgan, and David “Davey” Burgan, III.

Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with the Rev. Louis Nelen officiating.

Burial will be in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to three organizations dear to June’s heart: the American Red Cross, the Jefferson City Animal Shelter, and the Special Learning Center.

Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
