Ralph John Scheperle, 96, of Russellville, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017, at Westphalia Hills.

He was born March 1, 1921, in Russellville, Missouri, the son of the late George Edward and Lydia (Gemeinhardt) Scheperle.

He was united in marriage on January 26, 1942, in St. Charles, Missouri, to Dorothy Mae Marsch who survives.

Ralph began working for Granite City Steel was a welder helping to construct Sherman Tanks for World War II. He was then drafted by the United States Navy. Within two weeks of attending training camp, he was sent back to Granite City Steel because of his craftsmanship as a welder. His expertise helped to continue the construction of the Sherman Tanks.

Following World War II, Ralph traveled back to Russellville and opened the Millbrook Blacksmith with his brother, Elwin Scheperle. He eventually began working for DeLong’s, Inc. as a welder, foreman, and salesman. He retired after 40 years with DeLong’s, Inc.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church-Stringtown. He enjoyed traveling with Dorothy, mowing grass, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 75 years, Dorothy Scheperle; two children, David (Bonnie) Scheperle, Russellville; Marsha (Jerry) Propst, Russellville; five grandchildren, Ronda (Kevin) Higgins, Tina Scheperle, Derred Scheperle, Tiffany (Mike) Brite, DVM, Andy (Clarise) Propst; one step-grandchild, Christopher (Anne) Birdsong; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Elwyn Scheperle, Jefferson City; and his faithful dog, Deanna.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-grandson, Bradley Birdsong; one brother, Cleo Scheperle; a sister-in-law, Edna Scheperle; and a brother-in-law, Walter “Bud” Marsch.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Homes in Russellville.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at St. John’s Lutheran Church-Stringtown, with Pastor Jacob Mueller officiating.

Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery-Stringtown.
