Richard D. Sartor, 72, of Jefferson City passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026 at Adams St. Place.

He was born January 8, 1954 in O’Fallon, IL to the late Donald and Mary (Zeni) Sartor.  After graduating from high school, Dick attended the St. Louis College of Pharmacy.  He achieved his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy.  As a pharmacist, he began his career at the Gerbe’s pharmacy in Jefferson City.  Before retiring from JCMG, Dick worked at Kmart, Walmart in Owensville and then for the Apothecary Shop in Jefferson City.

Dick first met Patricia Rung when they attended college together.  Several years later, they reconnected working in the pharmacy at Gerbe’s.  On May 16, 1981 Dick and Pat were married at the Cathedral of St. Joseph.

Dick’s family was always his first priority.  He loved his family and took great pride in making special gifts for his children and grandchildren.  He was a skilled woodworker with an eye for detail.  Some of his creations included an infant rocking cradle, solid cherry rocking horse, play kitchen with stove and refrigerator with beds, pull toys and assorted furniture.

Softball was his second priority.  He was a pitcher for Parks & Rec in Jefferson City.  Extremely competitive, Dick would play 3 nights a week and had years of injuries to prove it.  Playing into his 60’s, Dick hung up his cleats in 2013.

“Enjoying the outdoors” would be an understatement.  You might have found Dick hunting deer or turkeys on his farm or Elk in Wyoming or fishing in Canada.  Whether it was cutting firewood, brush-hogging or planting food plots, Dick took care of his farm always with conservation in mind.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Patricia of Jefferson City; daughter, Nicole (Daniel) Christensen of Tebbetts; son, Bryan (Jesee) Sartor of Hartsburg; four grandchildren, David and Cole Christensen, Cohen and Silas Sartor; brother, Donald (Donna) Sartor of St. Louis; niece and nephew, Gina and Jason Hilger.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Sue Hilger.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to the Missouri Park and Recreation Education Fund.
