Shirley Ann Stieferman, 90, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, May 19, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born April 23, 1935, in St. Thomas, Missouri, the daughter of Joe and Rose (Groner) Herigon.
Shirley was united in marriage on February 19, 1955, in Chamois, Missouri to Clarence J. Stieferman, who survives at the home. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past February.
In 1956, along with her husband, Clarence, they started Maxey & Stieferman Heating Company with Clarence’s sister and brother-in-law Evelyn and James Charles Maxey. In 1980, upon Charles retirement, the company continued as Stieferman Heating Company Incorporated. Since 1956 and until the age of 84, Shirley answered the phones and dispatched technicians for service calls for the family business.
Shirley was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. She was also a member of the St. Ann Quilters, the Ladies Sodality, and the Daughters of Isabella. She also worked the funeral luncheons at St. Peters for many years. In earlier years, she was a Girl Scout leader, room mother for her children and was always willing to shuttle her kids and grandkids to school functions and sporting activities.
She was always a good cook and enjoyed preparing a full meal every night for dinner and especially for the holidays and large family gatherings. Her family fondly remember all the Sunday dinners. She greatly enjoyed going to Branson and Nashville occasionally with her husband to listen to country music shows. They also enjoyed spending time at their cabin at the Lake of the Ozarks. She had a green thumb and was known for bringing plants back from the brink of destruction by her daughter-in-laws. She loved her flower garden and especially roses.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence Stieferman; four sons, Arlin (Brenda) Stieferman, Jefferson City; Wendel (Barb) Stieferman, Lohman; Warren (Marybeth) Stieferman, Jefferson City; Jeffrey (Sarah) Stieferman, Jefferson City; nine grandchildren, Bret (Laura) Stieferman; Abby (Jason) Struemph; Stephanie (Chris) Chauvin; Daniel Stieferman; Connor (Elise) Stieferman; Morgan (Koby) Limbach; Carson Stieferman; Clare (Jordan) Schulte; Maggie (Zach) Burns; eleven great-grandchildren with one on the way; and two siblings, JoAnn Herigon, Jefferson City; and Jerry (Cathy) Herigon, Leawood, KS.

Shirley truly was the “voice” of Stieferman Heating Company. Sending my deepest condolences to all the Stieferman family and Shirley’s many friends. May all your wonderful memories bring you comfort in the days ahead.
Shirley was always the best at customer service when I had an issue with my furnace or air conditioning. I would always wait for that kind voice when she answered Stieferman Heating Company. She would have a smile on her face every time and would say hello at church. May she now rest easy with the saints in heaven. Pray for the family.
Steve and Bev send their sympathy to the Stieferman Family. She was a lovely Lady, and always pleasant on the phone and in person. Our prayers and thoughts are with all of the Family. Steve and Bev Cearlock
Barb, My sympathy to you and your family.
