After graduating from Fatima High School in Westphalia, Stanley was united in marriage to Laurine Mary Niekamp on June 7, 1958, in Taos.

He was always focused on his family and cherished time spent with kids, grandkids and great grandkids. His other passions included sports (grandkids/great-grandkids, Blair Oaks and St Louis Cardinals in particular), fishing, playing cards, going to the cattle sale barn, visiting the casino, spending time at the river cabin and gardening.
