SYLVANUS REGINALD "SYL" BUERSMEYER

Sylvanus Reginald Syl Buersmeyer, 94 of Jefferson City, died Sunday, July 8, 2012, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Center.
He was born on January 28, 1918, in St. Thomas, the son of the late Michael Robert and Elizabeth Christine Sommer Buersmeyer.
Syl graduated in 1936, from St. Peter High School and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was united in marriage on February 18, 1947, in Jefferson City, to Margaret Lucille Johnson who preceded him in death on October 5, 1990.
Retiring in 1981, Syl worked as an analyst for the Missouri Highway and Transportation Department for thirty-two years.
He was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 35; American Legion Post No.5; and Over 50 Club at St. Martin Catholic Church.
Syl is survived by three sons, Stephen L. (Lucy) Buersmeyer; Mark R. (Nancy) Buersmeyer; all of Jefferson City; David L. (Peg) Buersmeyer, St. Martins; one daughter, Sylvia A. Howerton, Jefferson City; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Connie (Mary) Buersmeyer, South Bend, Ind.; and one sister, Celestine Buersmeyer, Jefferson City.
He was proceeded in death by his great-grandson, Brody Kopp; his brother, Clarence Buersmeyer; his sister, Cornelia Buersmeyer; and his sister-in-law, Hermina Buersmeyer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at St. Martin Catholic Church with the Rev. Edwin A. Schmidt, officiating.
Burial with military honors will be in St. Martin Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Martin Catholic Church.

I had carpal tunnel surgery this morning so I won’t be coming to the wake or funeral but know that I am thinking of your family and praying for Syl and all of you. Marcella
