Wilfred Bernard "Toby" Toebben, 88, of Jefferson City, died Monday, February 11, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on July 29, 1924, in Jefferson City, the son of the late August and Laura (Lage) Toebben. He served in the United States Army during World War II in Central Europe and the Aleutian Islands. He was united in marriage on August 11, 1945, in Jefferson City, to Martha Marie Maasen who resides at the home. Toby was the manager for the Jefferson City area school buses from 1964-1986. He was also a driver for Mid-American Coaches from 1986-1994. Toby was co-owner of Walt & Toby Sinclair Service from 1958-1964; worked for Jefferson City Body & Frame from 1955-1958; and Shikles Motor Company from 1947-1955. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, and American Legion Post 5. He also served as a communion minister at St. Peter Church and St. Mary's Health Center. Toby enjoyed fishing and hunting, tinkering with mechanical work, and especially loved being with his family. Other survivors include: two children, Ruth (Arthur) Bock, Westphalia; Janice (Kevin) Schmitz, St. Charles; a son-in-law and his wife, Glenn (Kathy) Bish, Jefferson City; six grandchildren, Sandra Bure; Randall Bock; Jason Bish; Jonathan Bish; Jacob Schmitz; Jackson Schmitz; 6 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mildred Hoelscher, Jefferson City. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Bish; two sons, Richard Toebben and James Toebben; two sisters, Delores Rodeman and Alma Rodeman; and three brothers, Herbert, Cletus, and Richard Toebben. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2013, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Gregory C. Meystrik officiating. Entombment with military honors will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the St. Peter Cemetery Fund, 3015 West Truman Blvd., Jefferson City, Mo 65109; or the Special Learning Center, 1115 Fairgrounds Road, Jefferson City, Mo 65109.
