Wilma Dean Wekenborg, 90, of Jefferson City passed away Friday, August 28, 2020, at Jefferson City Manor.

She was born November 14, 1929, in Cooper Hill, Missouri, the daughter of the late Emory Edwin and Dicie Ann (Harness) Pointer.

She was united in marriage on September 24, 1949, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City to Edward Henry Wekenborg who preceded her in death on May 17, 2001.

Wilma was the co-owner and secretary of Midwest Implement Company. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Salve Mater chapter of the Immaculata Club, Mother Seton Widow’s Group, and was a volunteer at the Samaritan Center.

Survivors include one son, Bruce (LuAnne) Wekenborg, Jefferson City; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Wekenborg, Jefferson City; six grandchildren, Justin Wekenborg (Jackie Stockton), Libby (Aaron) Lock, Kara (Luke) Ready, Brooke Wekenborg (Leigh Mitchell), Chelsea (Jason) Newman, Corey Wekenborg (Megan Switzer); and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Daniel Wekenborg; four sisters, Gladys Ketterer, Data Robinson, Lois Quinn, Naomi Hummel; and two brothers, Winfred Pointer and Wayne Pointer.

A private family committal service was held at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum with the Rev. Donald Antweiler officiating.

Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or to Hospice Compassus.

  1. So sorry for the loss of Dean. I knew her from both recent places she resided and would see her when visiting my mom. She was a sweet lady. I loved to see her smile. You have my sympathy.

  2. Sorry for your loss. She lived next door to my son and was at a lot of my grandchildren’s birthday parties. Such a nice lady.

  3. We were so sorry to hear of the death of Dean. She was a sweet lady! It was always enjoyable to visit with her. Bruce, LuAnne, Nancy, and all the grandchildren are in our thoughts and prayers.

  4. PeeWee and Mary Jane Forck Our sympathy to the whole family. I did business with Eddie and Dean when I was much younger and they was on Brooks St. (I think the street is right out by Stockman Feed). I enjoyed the whole family and it bring back so many memories. My Dad (C.B.) bought the first self propelled Gleaner with a cab to come to Jefferson City. They will all be truly missed in our community. The were good to do business with and considered the family true friends.

  5. My family had the pleasure of being next-door neighbors to Dan and Nancy, and regularly enjoyed Dean’s company as well. Thinking of her smile always makes my heart happy!

  7. Dear Bruce, LuAnne, Nancy and Cousins, I was so sad to hear of Great Aunt Dean’s passing. I have such fond memories of her. I loved to get to go visit with her when Grandpa Jim or my dad had to go by the implement store. I thought she was so pretty….and had such a beautiful smile. She was so kind to me and made me feel so special. She was always such a class act Lady! I am sure she is at peace in heaven! Sending prayers from Oklahoma, to all of you during this sad time!
