Yvonne Janet Krueger Cooper, 90, of Jefferson City, passed away Friday, May 9, 2025, at Heisinger Bluffs in Jefferson City.
She was born on December 28, 1934, in Bates City, Missouri, the daughter of Luther Levi Krueger and Denise V. (Gindre) Krueger.
She was married to Marion Lee Cooper on June 10, 1956, at the Bates City Methodist Church in Bates City, Missouri. Marion passed away February 4, 2019.
Mrs. Cooper was a 1952 graduate of Odessa High School, Odessa, Missouri. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1956 and Master of Education in 1974 from the University of Missouri.
Mrs. Cooper was a public-school teacher in Brentwood, Salisbury,
Columbia, Linn, and New Franklin. She was a reading diagnostician at the Lincoln University Reading Diagnostic Clinic and a GED teacher with the Dept. Of Corrections, Church Farm, retiring in 1997 after being involved 32 years in Education. In 1993-94 she was awarded academic teacher of the year from the Missouri Correctional school system.
She was a member of the Missouri Retired Teachers Association, Cole County Area Retired Teachers Association, GFWC Capital City Woman’s Club, South Howard County Historical Society, Boonslick Historical Society, ARMES, and P.E.O. Chapter LI.
Yvonne enjoyed gardening and crossword puzzles, but her greatest joy was being with her husband, children, and taking care of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her two sons, Dean Lee Cooper (Mary), Jefferson City, and Brett Alan Cooper (Teresa), Boonville; four grandchildren, Benjamin Lee Cooper (fiancé, Lexi Dickerson), Christopher Dowd Cooper, Kathryn Marie Cooper, and Karagyn Nicole Cooper; sisters-in-law, Sandy Krueger, Gainesville, Georgia; Donna Krueger, Loveland, Colorado; and Joyce Ann Campbell (David) Cairo, Missouri; brother-in-law, Bob Thompson, Washington, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, (Ret) Col. William H. Krueger; and George “Fred” Krueger; and a sister, Sharon Thompson.
Visitation will be 4:30-6:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Trimble Funeral Homes, Jefferson City, Missouri.
Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m., Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Fayette, Missouri, with the Rev. Trevor Dancer officiating.
