Dale Edward Buschmann, 79, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2025, leaving behind a distinguished legacy of public service and a profound devotion to his family.
Born on December 14, 1946, in Vienna, Missouri, Dale was the son of Charles Edward and Virginia Mary (Wessels) Buschmann.
On June 7, 1969, he was united in marriage to Beverly Sue Hollis at Visitation Catholic Church in Vienna, beginning a 56-year journey of love and partnership.
Dale was enlisted in the United States Army Reserve from July 1966 – July 1971.
Dale’s professional life was defined by his 30-year career with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, which began on February 1, 1968. He initially served Troop C in Kirkwood for 26 years, rising through the ranks to become Captain and Commanding Officer of Troop C in 1988. In 1994, he was promoted to Major and served as Commander of the Administrative Services Bureau at General Headquarters in Jefferson City until his retirement in 1999. Dale founded the first Special Emergency Response Team for Troop C and was a graduate of the U.S. Secret Service Dignitary Protection School and the FBI National Academy.
Beyond his professional accolades, Dale’s true north was his family. He was a constant presence at every game, performance, and milestone, offering unwavering encouragement to his children and grandchildren. His commitment to service extended into his community, where he volunteered for the American Cancer Society, the March of Dimes, the Fox Theater, and local church and scout programs. In recent years, he was a dedicated volunteer for Camp Quality of Central Missouri, where he was famously known for his award-winning chili.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly; his children, Nicole Dawn Buschmann and Erik Christopher (Amanda) Buschmann; two grandchildren, Jacquelyn McKenzie and Charles Alexander; his sister, Karen (Ron) Ferkol; and a large extended family of in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ronald Charles Buschmann; and brothers-in-law, Terry Hollis and Garry Hollis.
Dale modeled a life of integrity, service, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed.

office of Dr. Tim Rieke. We would share stories, and he was such a wonderful person. I would even
see Dale and Bev outside of the office, and we would just catch up on stories and laugh. The world
could use more people like Dale for sure. I know he will be watching from up above on his family and
his friends. He was a person if you needed anything, he would be the person to get it done.
My condolences to Bev, Nichole, and Erik as well. Hugs and prayers.

There was never a time I don’t have memories of Dale as I was not quite 3 years old when I was the flower girl in Bev and Dale’s wedding. The best memories I have as a child were getting to stay with them for a week in the summer (several summers, I think), and going to Six Flags. Since Niki was too little and Bev couldn’t handle it, Dale had to ride the big kid rides with me. Deep down, I believe he enjoyed those rides as much as I did. After Dave and I were married, I enjoyed it when we visited Bev and Dale in Fenton and Dale would wash our car! He may have been embarrassed by all the Maries County dirt sitting in his driveway but I appreciated it anyway. I have so many memories and too little time to share here but Dale will definitely be missed by the Garros. Enjoy that Screaming Eagle in the sky, Dale!!!!
Dale was a good man and I’ll miss you. Dale and I have played golf together for the past 10 years and riding on the golf cart with him for all those years we developed a strong friendship. I’ll remember all the golf, the conversations, and almost always going to eat after playing golf. Lot of laughs and serious conversations too.
I met Charlie a few times when he was a younger boy but feel like I know his wife and family because he told me about you all. God give you strength and peace during this hurtful and difficult time.
Martin and Jerry Crider. So sorry to here about Dale. Feel very blessed to know him and to be a class mate way back.
