ADELLA ANGELA "DELLA" WINKELMAN

Adella Angela Della Winkelman, 89, of Westphalia, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, at the Westphalia Retirement Center. She was born on December 8, 1917, in Westphalia, the daughter of Henry John and Augusta Ann Adrian Winkelman. A homemaker and caregiver, Della unselfishly gave her time, talents and compassion to her family and friends. As a devoted daughter, she cared for her parents until their deaths. For a brief period, she worked at the Westphalia Hotel (Inn) and Teresa Kremers Place. In 1972 she began babysitting in her home and continued for 24 years giving her special nurturing care until she retired in 1996 at 78 years old. Through the years she generously gave of her talents as an excellent seamstress and a wonderful cook. Della was an independent woman. She enjoyed sewing, needlework, gardening, and reading. Ms. Winkelman was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia, St. Anns Ladies Sodality, and the Westphalia Historical Society. Survivors include: one sister, Alice Weckenborg, Westphalia; and one brother, Clarence Winkelman, of Westphalia; 23 nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Marie Kempker, and one brother, Linus Winkelman. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia, with the Rev. Richard Cronin officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2007 at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Westphalia, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph School, 123 E. Main St., P.O.
