Ambrose Theodore Bungart, 89, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 23, 1935, in Mary’s Home, the son of Peter P. and Mary Francie (Beutle) Bungart.
He was united in marriage on Sept. 20, 1958, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City to Dolores Marie Moeller who survives at the home.
Ambrose worked more than 36 years for Roy A. Scheperle Construction as a Foreman, where his son also worked. He was a member of the Laborers’ Local #662 Union.
He was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church, St. Martin Knights of Columbus Council #7194, and the Sons of the American Legion. Ambrose enjoyed fishing, camping, looking for bargains at flea markets, working in his yard and around their farm, using his backhoe, spending time at their lake home and traveling with his wife to several states.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores Bungart, Jefferson City; three children, Vicki (Jim) Clad, Centertown; Donna Smith, Jefferson City; Mike (Renee) Bungart, Russellville; 9 grandchildren, Nicole (Mike) Means, Alan (Shelly) Smith, Ashley (Travis) LePage, Lyndi (Matt) Derheim, Nathan (Megan) Smith, Whitney (Jordan) France, Olivia (Colby) Gilpin, Kaitlyn (Greg) Connell, Madie (Donovan) Doerhoff; 22 great-grandchildren plus 2 due this summer; and a sister, Juliann Carver, Kirksville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Brian Smith; and his siblings, Jenny Doerhoff, Alviena Hollenbeck, Francilla Limbach, and Jerome Bungart.
Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2025, at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martins. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jason Doke officiating.
Entombment will be at Resurrection Catholic Mausoleum.
Memorials are suggested to St. Martin Catholic School, St. Martin Church Building Fund, or to Masses.
