Andrew Walter Volmert, 77, of Folk, died Wednesday, November 26, 2003, at St. Marys Health Center. He was born on August 16, 1926 in Vienna, the son of Herman and Anna Otto Volmert. He was married on June 14, 1949 in Folk to Loreen Gertrude Haselhorst who survives at the home. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Virginia Fecteau; Agnes Volmert; and Lucy Arunski; and brothers, Henry Volmert, Edward Volmert, and Charles Volmert. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2003, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Folk, with the Rev. Thomas E. McGrath officiating. Burial with military honors will be in St. Anthony of Padua Cemetery, Folk. Visitation will be 4-7:30 p.m. Friday, November 28, 2003, at St. Anthony of Padua Parish Hall, Folk, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2003, at the Parish Hall. A 1944 graduate of Vienna High School, Mr. Volmert was a life-long farmer in the Folk area. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Folk; Osage County Board of Education; Argyle Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8045; Missouri Turkey Federation; had served on the Bishops Pastoral Council for the Jefferson City Diocese; and was a former Vice-president of the Missouri Turkey Industries. Other survivors include four sons and their wives, Luke and Norma Volmert, Folk; Samuel and Linda Volmert, Folk; Jeffery J. Volmert, Meta; and Robert and Judy Volmert, Columbus, Ohio; nine daughters and their husbands, Carolyn and Tom Loethen, St. Thomas; June and Frank Bax, St. Elizabeth; Peggy and Thomas Wildhaber, Argyle; Virginia and David Kindelspire, Jefferson City; Helen and David Johns, Jefferson City; Laura and Greg Stratman, Vienna; Grace and Don Toebben, St. Martins; Nancy and Gary Stratman, Vienna; and Doris and Thomas Gibbons, Florissant; thirty-three grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one sister, Catherine Bade, Rolla.
