Barbara Ann Rackers, 72, of Jefferson City, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2017, at SSM Health St. Marys Hospital. She was born February 14, 1945, in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late George Herbert and Margaret Ann (Scheppers) Maasen. She was a 1963 graduate of Fatima High School in Westphalia. She was married on April 25, 1964, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Wardsville, to Anthony Bernard Tony Rackers who resides at the home. In earlier years, Barbara worked for nine years as a legal secretary at Goller, Hedrick, Attorneys At Law, and then spent the next thirty years working for Ameren Missouri, retiring as the Human Resource Manager. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Barbara was an avid reader, and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She was a huge sports fan and loved to watch all sports, but especially when her grandchildren were playing. Survivors include her husband, Tony Rackers, Jefferson City; one son, Brian Anthony (Kara) Rackers, Wardsville; a daughter, Shelley Ann (George) Byrd, Wardsville; five grandchildren, Justin Watson Byrd, Karson Lea Rackers, Sydney Elizabeth Rackers, Drew Anthony Watson Bryd, and Kaci Ann Byrd; one brother, Harold (Jeannie) Maasen, Taos; and six sisters, Sr. Celine Maasen, Illinois; Pauline Strope, Springfield, MO; Theresa Temmen, Folk; Bernadette Beeb (Dennis) Gillis, Jefferson City; Helen (Art) Boeckmann, Wardsville; and Vicky (Mike) Niekamp, Jefferson City. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Ben and Frankie Maasen, and two brothers-in-law, Lee Strope and Walter Temmen. Visitation will be 4:30-7 p.m. Monday, December 11, 2017, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Donald J. Antweiler officiating. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery in Wardsville. Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1206 E. McCarty St., Jefferson City, Missouri 65101 or St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery, 6418 Route W. Wardsville, MO 65101. Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. I’m sorry we missed the visitation and services, but it seems the older we get the busy we get with Doctors etc. Barbara was a wonderful lady and I don’t hardly know when she didn’t have a warm smile on her face.
