August 19, 1943 ~ May 19, 2019
She was born August 16, 1943, in Crowell, Texas, the daughter of the late Gilbert Roy and Elsie Joy (Vecera) Lankford.
She was united in marriage on June 26, 1965, to Gordon Charles Brunkhorst in Denver, Colorado.
Barbara received a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from Midwestern University in Wichita Falls, Texas. She also continued her education by becoming certified to teach ESL in elementary from Prairie View A&M, Texas.
Retiring in 1995, she was an elementary teacher in Denver, Colorado; Seattle, Washington; and Houston, Texas. Teaching children was a passion that touched many and encouraged all who knew her to never give up on any child.
Barbara enjoyed sewing, cooking, playing the piano and flower gardening and feeding her flock of hummingbirds on the farm. She took great pride in spoiling her grandchildren and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband Gordon; a daughter, Nicala (Michael) Ballard, Jefferson City; a son, Garrett (Stacey) Brunkhorst, Cypress, Texas; six grandchildren, Kordell Ballard, Lucas Ballard, Ruby Ballard, Lilyona Ballard, Avery Brunkhorst, and Cooper Brunkhorst; and one sister, Vicky (Tony) Moore, Clinton, Mississippi.
Private services will be held at a later time.
Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Those wishing to send condolences to the family may do so at the www.dulletrimble.com website.
