Betty Ruth Renn, 70, of Jefferson City, died Monday, Sept. 6, 2010, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born on Sept. 20, 1939, in Osage County, Mo., the daughter of the late Thomas Ensloe and Mildred Estelle Shouse Cavender. She was married on Sept. 5, 1964, in Jefferson City, to John Joseph Renn who survives at the home. A 1957 graduate of Linn High School, Mrs. Renn retired in the mid-1990s from the Missouri National Guard where she had been employed for over thirty years. Over the years she had also been employed with Bell Telephone Company, St. Marys Hospital, and Roger Verslues Engineering Company. She was a member of the Cathedral of Saint Joseph and a former member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Holts Summit.
Other survivors include one son, Mark K. Renn, Chicago, Ill.; three sisters, Frances Burriss, Kansas City, Mo.; Mary Kay (Greg) Kinney, Vancouver, Wash.; and Linda Brandt, Linn, Mo.; six brothers, Allen (Carole) Cavender, Linn, Mo.; George (Brenda) Cavender, Kansas City, Mo.; John Cavender, Linn, Mo.; James Cavender, Lake Okeechobee, Fla.; Nelson (Betty) Cavender, Pacific, Mo.; and Ted (Dana) Cavender, Eureka, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Nellie Haslag; one brother, Dudley Cavender, Jr.; and her aunt and uncle, Lora and Dudley Cavender, Sr.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010, at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph with the Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki officiating. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Jefferson City Animal Shelter, 919 E. Miller Street, Jefferson City Mo. 65101.
