Carl Richard Rackers,84, of Wardsville, died Thursday, June 30, 2005, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born on August 8, 1920 on the family farm in Wardsville, the son of Aloys Herman and Mathilda Margaret Hoelscher Rackers. He was married on Oct. 14, 1950 in Taos, MO to Frances Sophia DeBrine who survives at the home. Mr. Rackers was a life long farmer on the family farm. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church; past church board member; usher; and a member of the Holy Name Society. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Other survivors include two sons and two daughters-in-law, Rodney Carl and Susan Rackers, Centertown, and Dale John and Carol Rackers, Wardsville; six grandchildren, Nicholas Rackers; Nathan Rackers; Emily Rackers and her fianc, Joshua Kampeter; Jenna Rackers; Ben Rackers; and Jacob Rackers; and one sister, Lillian Schellmann, Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by one brother, Ralph S. Rackers; and two sisters, Dorothy Mertens and Mildred Bruemmer. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2005, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with the Rev. Gregory C. Meystrik officiating. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Wardsville. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, July 1st, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be Saturday, July 2nd, 9-10:00 a.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to the St. Stanislaus Educational Foundation, 6410 Route W, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
