Carolyn Rehagen
February 7, 1943 ~ September 27, 2023
Carolyn Rehagen, 80, of Jefferson City passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Heisinger Bluffs.
She was born February 7, 1943 in Mary’s Home to the late Francis and Lucy (Kirkweg) Schulte. One of 12 children, Carolyn learned the value of hard work and never sitting still. She was instrumental in helping to raise her siblings. Even with all of her responsibilities, Carolyn achieved her high school diploma from Eugene High School in 1960.
On July 28, 1962, Carolyn married James Rehagen at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Mary’s Home. They made their home near Jefferson City with Carolyn working as a cook at St. Peter Catholic School. She made the school children’s lunches from scratch with special attention given in baking cinnamon rolls for her students. Carolyn was the consummate homemaker. She took great pride in taking care of her children and grandchildren. Always on the go, you might find her sewing, crocheting, canning, working in the garden or baking cookies for the grandchildren. Faith was extremely important to Carolyn, she was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and the Ladies Sodality. Throughout the years, she found comfort in attending Mass throughout the week.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, James of Jefferson City, five children, John (Gina) Rehagen of Brazito, Gregory (Michelle) Rehagen of Henley, Mary Lynn (Philip) Wieberg of Argyle, Jeanne (Rex) Buechter of Mary’s Home, Laura (Frank) Kirkley of Brazito, fourteen grandchildren; Katie, Matt, Hannah, Sarah, Paul, Jacob, Adam, Maggie, Jimmy, Alison, Rachel, Jeremy, Megan, Jared; eighteen great grandchildren, eight siblings; Maurice Schulte, Kenneth Schulte, Michael (Kathy) Schulte, Rose (Tom) OIigschlaeger, Daniel (Cyndia) Schulte, Samuel (Donna) Schulte, LueAnn (Jerry) Hogg and Liz (Ralph) Heckemeyer and two sisters-in-law; Etta and Betty Schulte. Words cant describe how wonderful of a woman she was. She was the story book version of a grandma, the love we all have for her is unending and surpassed only by the love she had for all of us grand kids and great grand kids. She kept tabs on all of us no matter how far from home we were. She served as a model for us all and she will be so dearly missed.
