Catherine Frances Martin, 88, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2019 at Jefferson City Manor.

She was born October 29, 1930, in Taos, the daughter of Linus and Lidwina (Wolken) Bernskoetter.

She was united in marriage on September 12, 1950, in Jefferson City to Bobbie Herbert Martin, who preceded her in death on January 8, 2010.

Catherine worked for the State of Missouri Department of Revenue from June 1, 1972 to May 31, 1994, when she retired. In earlier years, she worked as a clerk at Schmidt Shoe Store in downtown Jefferson City.

She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church; Ladies Sodality; assisted with funeral luncheons and helped clean the church and chapel.

She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and sewing. She was particularly proud when she made her daughter’s wedding “going-away outfit”. Catherine loved going to their lake house at the Lake of the Ozarks where she enjoyed her favorite pastime of cleaning. She loved polka and country and western music, her neighborhood and her neighbors. Her favorite thing to do was be with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandson.

Survivors include a daughter, Diane (Jerry) Toebben, Jefferson City; a son, Dennis Martin, Jefferson City; four grandchildren, Mandy Martin, Steve (Angie) Toebben, Matt (Heather) Toebben, Mitchell Toebben; five great-grandchildren, Emily Kirk, Braden Toebben, Carter Toebben, Noah Toebben, Landree Toebben; one great-great-grandson, Rayden Lipscomb; siblings, Norbert Bernskoetter, Wardsville; Agnes Brondel, Wardsville; Lucille Bernskoetter, Jefferson City; John Bernskoetter, Jefferson City; two sisters-in-law, Charlene Bernskoetter, Jefferson City; Betty Bernskoetter, Wardsville; and a brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Leona Martin, Jefferson City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bobbie; a great-grandson, Ryan Kirk; two brothers, Paul Bernskoetter and Albert Bernskoetter; a brother-in-law, Paul Brondel; and a sister-in-law, Nadine Bernskoetter.

Visitation will be 8:30-10:00 a.m., Monday, July 22, 2019, at St. Peter Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2019 at Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Basil Tigga officiating.

Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Catholic Church and Hospice Compasses.

Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

  1. Dianne and Dennis and families: Enjoyed looking at pictures, brought back many memories. Was so sorry about her death, but know she will be in a better place. She was a wonderful lady. Sorry I can’t make it to visitation or funeral. I am getting up there in age too but am thinking of you all
