Catherine Marie Sala, 71, of Jefferson City, went home to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 3, 2018, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born December 21, 1946, in St. Louis, the daughter of the late Vito and Marie Minnie (Becker) Venezia.

She was united in marriage in 1962 to Bonaventure Sala, also of St. Louis.

Catherine worked for Sears-Roebuck and the Missouri Department of Social Services as a data-entry clerk retiring in 1996. In her earlier years, she enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom. She also enjoyed cooking, painting, music, collecting movies, and taking care of her family. She had a great love throughout her life for all animals.

In her later years as she lived off social security, she always gave to almost any charity request she received, especially helping the children and animals.

She was a faithful member of St. Peter Catholic Church even in her later years when she was physically unable to attend Mass.

Catherine battled with COPD and other illnesses for 20 years. She fought hard because she said everyday was a gift.

Survivors include one son, Jeff Sala, Jefferson City; one grandson, Jason (Rhael) Sala; one granddaughter, Rachel (Mark) Johnson; one great-grandson, Lane Johnson; and her uncle and aunt, Ray and Lorraine Hales, San Leandro, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her son, Jeremy Sala.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m., Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at St. Peter Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Basil Eruo officiating.
