Charles Edward Chuck Gidley, 58, of Jefferson City, died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2005, at St. Marys Health Center. He was born on Nov. 6, 1946, in Morgantown, West Virginia, the son of James Arthur and Margaret Elizabeth Jones Gidley. His father survives in New Waterford, Ohio. He was married in 1969 in Kansas City, MO to Carolyn Sue Schulte. He was later married on Feb. 11, 1980 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Barbara Dianne Robinson Esvelt who survives at the home. Mr. Gidley was employed in earlier years in construction and with the Missouri Department of Corrections. He retired in 2000 as a Postal Clerk with the United States Postal Service where he had been employed for thirty-one years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam Era from 1963 to 1967, and served aboard the U.S.S. Saratoga and the U.S.S. Enterprise. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church; Roy Sone Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1003; American Legion Post 5; Helias Knights of Columbus Council 1054; Jefferson City Host Lions Club; and was a past president and steward of the American Postal Workers Union, AFL-CIO. Other survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Tina G. and Steve Brewer, Buckner, MO; one son, Gary D. Gidley, Raytown, MO; one step-daughter and her husband, Susan K. and Aaron Lueders, Columbia, MO; three grandchildren, Julian Gidley, Jaden Lueders, and Landon Brewer; two sisters, Betty Melito, Morgantown, WV; and Barbara Shaw and her husband, Bob, New Waterford, OH; four brothers and their wives, Jim and Bonnie Gidley, Bayville, NJ; David and Nancy Gidley, Morgantown, WV; Bill and Pat Gidley, Highland, IN; and Marvin and Harriet Gidley, Morgantown, WV. He was preceded in death by his mother; and one brother, Kevin Eugene Gidley. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, 2005, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald W. Lammers officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to an educational fund for his grandchildren at UMB Bank, 300 Dix Road, Jefferson City, MO 65109.
