CHARLES WILLIAM BUFFINGTON

Charles William Buffington, 84, of Jefferson City, died Thursday, March 9, 2006, at St. Marys Health Center. He was born on April 10, 1921 in Halltown, MO, the son of Charles William and Jewell Gladys Fees Buffington. He was married on June 21, 1940 in Halltown to Virginia Lee Welty who survives at the home. A 1938 graduate of Marionville High School, Mr. Buffington managed Lynnwood Dairy Farms in Tebbetts, MO for seventeen years. He later served as a Dairy Specialist with MFA and Farmland Industries for many years. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church where he was an active deacon and Sunday School teacher. Other survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Dorcas and Danny Wenger, Versailles, MO; six sons and four daughters-in-law, Wes Buffington, Springfield, MO; Jim and Mary Anne Buffington, Mokane, MO; Don and Sharon Buffington, Jefferson City; Terry Buffington, Phoenix, AZ; Randy and Deanna Buffington, Lees Summit, MO; and Mark and Dianne Buffington, Mexico, MO; fourteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Jewell Hendricks, Mt. Vernon, MO; and Merle and Emil Dorn, St. Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by an infant son, William Ray Buffington; one brother, Ira Buffington; and one sister, Myra Batson. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2006, at Concord Baptist Church with the Rev. Monte Shinkle officiating. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
