Clara Christine Eiken, 93, of Taos, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024, at Westphalia Hills.

She was born on August 27, 1931, in Taos, the daughter of Joseph H. and Johanna (Forck) Grothoff.

Clara was a 1949 graduate of Fatima High School.

She was united in marriage on May 12, 1962, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church to Silver Eiken who preceded her in death on May 23, 2001.

She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

Clara worked as a mail processor for Scholastic, Eiken Grocery Store in Taos and babysat in her home in earlier years.

She played cards with her card club on a regular basis, very involved in the church and choir, and enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandchildren.

Survivors include her three children, Mayra Long, Columbia, Brian (Abby) Eiken, Lee Summit, Harold (Nimisha) Eiken, Kansas City; three grandchildren, Jacob Long, Kiran Eiken, Sarah Long.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, several siblings, son-in-law, Chip Long and one granddaughter, Morgan Eiken.

Visitation will be 9:00-12noon Saturday, December 21, 2024, in St. Francis Xavier Catholic School Gymnasium.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 12noon Saturday, December 21, 2024, in St. Francis Xavier Catholic School Gymnasium with the Rev. Kelechi Uzuegbu, officiating.

Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

  1. We have so many fond memories at Clara and Silvers house growing up. With barbecues and Easter dinners and Christmas either at our house or theirs they always were a smiling face. Sending prayers and love to the family as Clara will sure to be deeply missed.
