Clarence C. Buthod, 71, formerly of Jefferson City, died Monday, March 1, 2004, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico. He was born on July 30, 1932, in Westphalia, the son of Louis and Johanna Schaefer Buthod. Survivors include three brothers, Marvin V. Buthod, Russellville; Norman J. Buthod, Jefferson City; and Walter J. Buthod, Centertown; four sisters, Florence M. Branson, Grace M. Lansford, and Dorothy M. Riegel, all of Jefferson City; and Rose J. Edler, Washington, MO; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by infant twin brothers, Don and Donald Buthod. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 2004, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Loose Creek, with the Rev. Joseph S. Corel officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Loose Creek. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2004, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Jefferson City, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church. He was a 1951 graduate of Loose Creek High School, leaving early to serve in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict where he earned the Purple Heart award. He was employed with Kroger Grocery Company for thirty years and later served as a Security Guard with Wells Fargo Security Service at the Florscheim Shoe Factory in Jefferson City. Mr. Buthod was a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church, Mexico; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, Linn; Cole County Sheriffs Auxiliary; and a life-member of the Marine Corps League Central Missouri Detachment and Oliver Buehrle Chapter 17, Disabled American Veterans.
