Clarence Joseph “Clem” Leigers, 76, of Jefferson City passed away Thursday, July 02, 2009, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility. He was born on October 16, 1932, in Taos, Mo., the son of John and Lydwina Bernskoetter Leigers. He was united in marriage on September 4, 1971, in Jefferson City to Vickie Carlene Thomas, who survives at the home. He was a United States Army veteran, serving with the 11th Airborne Division during 1952-1954 with the rank of Corporal. Clem was employed since 1947 as a radiator repairman with Brummet’s Radiator Repair Service and later became owner of the business in 1985, retiring in 2000. On weekends, Clem and his brother, Albert, enjoyed tending to their farm in Taos. Survivors also include two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Shannon Leigers of Columbia and Brett and Wendy Leigers of Jefferson City; two grandchildren, Madelyn Leigers and Samantha Leigers; and one sister, Erma Kleffner of Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Edna Neuner; and three brothers, Walter, Bill and Albert Leigers. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2009, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home in Jefferson City. Burial with full military honors will be in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association, 1118 Hampton Ave., St. Louis, Mo., 63139-3196.
