Clarence William "Pat" Meller

March 15, 1929 ~ January 31, 2021
He was born March 15, 1929, in Lohman, the son of the late Frederick and Clara Linn (Limbach) Meller.
Pat was a graduate of Centertown High School. In 1951 he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was an aircraft mechanic during the Korean War, he kept the B-39’s at the ready. He held the rank of SSGT when he was Honorably Discharged in 1955.
He was united in marriage on August 16, 1952, at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Mary’s Home to Rita Mae Schwaller who preceded him in death on July 23, 2013.
Pat owned & operated Meller’s Garage in Lohman for many years. He was a Rural Mail Carrier in the Lohman/Russellville area for over 32 years. He retired from the Postal Service on December 29, 1989.
He was known around the area as the “go to guy” if you were having tractor issues. He could work on any make of tractor, but he knew the Allis-Chalmers the most. If someone couldn’t bring their tractor to him to be worked on, he would find time to come to them. Everyone knew that Pat was a Mopar & Allis-Chalmers guy.
Pat was a faithful member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Russellville. He enjoyed gardening, playing pinochle, wine making, chatting with friends at church dinners and being around his cattle & farm dogs. He was an extremely generous man and never knew a stranger. He loved spending time with his family and tending to the family farm.
Survivors include two children, Mark (Kathy) Meller, Lohman; Nev (Vernon) Higgins, Lohman; five grandchildren, Chris (Tracy) Higgins, Shawn Higgins, Cayce Higgins (fiancé Chris McNail), Cyrus (Kelsey) Meller, Jacob Meller; four great-grandchildren, Landen Higgins, Kennadie Higgins, Gage Higgins-McNail, Aleea Higgins; and a brother—in-law, Larry Amos, Oakton, VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, two sisters, Marie Hentges, Helen Kirchner; and four brothers, Sylvester, Henry, Lawrence, and Roy Meller.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, February 4, 2021, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Russellville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m. Friday at St. Michael Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert Fields officiating.
Burial with military honors will be in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery.
The general public is welcome to attend services while following social distancing guidelines. Facial coverings are strongly encouraged while in attendance.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Michael Church Building Fund.
Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Homes in Russellville is in charge of the arrangements.
